Purpose: The foundation supports young Swiss visual artists (generally up to 40 years of age, in exceptional cases also older) who have the potential and motivation to further develop their artistic careers, particularly through stays abroad. Development-focused projects can also be supported if they directly align with the foundation’s objectives.

Applications: Please note that applications in the field of the performing arts cannot be considered. Likewise, final secondary school projects (e.g. Matura theses) as well as final projects within undergraduate programs (Bachelor’s level) are not eligible for funding. The assumption of production costs does not fall within the scope of the Foundation’s purpose, except in the case of educational measures, such as participation in a workshop.
The level of support varies depending on the project, but shall not exceed CHF 5,000.

Each application must include the following documents:
● Letter of motivation
● CV
● Portfolio or Website
● Budget indicating the requested amount
● For study programs abroad or workshops: certificate of enrollment or confirmation of participation (mandatory)

Submission date: Please note that the Foundation Board convenes only once a year, in the spring. Digital applications must be submitted by email no later than 31 January to the Secretariat of the Basler Kunstverein: stiftungen@kunsthallebasel.ch
